A worm like object in orange juice !!
We recently purchased a tetra pack of orange juice from a super market in Gurgaon. My partner who usually loves having fruit juice in the mornings had a couple of glasses already and on Wednesday when he poured out the juice in the glass something popped out half way dangling from the carton and when he pushed it out it fell into the glass which he fished out and saw it was like a worm, quite long. He got so shocked and started shivering all over. We now want to know what to do about it. We have already contacted the company and handed over the carton and the specimen who tried their level best to convince us that it was not a worm and they have a superb plant and R&D. They will send us a report soon however I dont believe they will accept this mistake. Do we approach the FSSAI directly on this, can anyone please suggest. I dont want people falling ill now with the same batch. After the Maggi noodles catastrophe, this is yet another shocking incident which has totally put me off the faith in these companies. more

I disagree with the suggestion that laws in india do have any teeth. Recently th0e National Consumer Redressal Forum has imposed a hefty penalty on a real estate developer that has been widely reported in the print media. There are numerous instances of various commercial organisations, such as insurance cos, airlines, hotels etc etc, having been fined heavily for deficiency in service. As i had stated, the public interest that has been stated to be the objective of the excercise, would warrant a serious and sustained effort. There are many ngo's like Avaaz/CHRI and so on that may be able to give specific advice more
