With the recent order of IT authorities to make Aadhar number mandatory for IT return some of us will have difficulty. I tried to link my Aadhar with IT but it was refused as the names do not match. I am 69 years old and had never used the conventional first name, surname. My name has always been K.VENKATARAYAN in all official records. Only while making the PAN, I was asked to expand the initials. K stands for my father's name. So my PAN was made with expanded initials. Now since the PAN database has the expanded initials and Aadhar does not have this. IT authorities are asking me to change the name in Aadhar . I do not have any proof for the full name. If I change the name in Aadhar I will be required to change at all other places including Bank etc. Why can't the Income Tax authorities accept the Aadhar details if all other like Date of birth, Address match. Otherwise it is an unnecessar hassle fro people like me. more
So far as the Aadhar card details & pan card details matches with one another in all respects birthday, address, name & numbers then GOf INDIA should accept it . Why not .ithe is not good creating extra procedural haste to all old people.IT & Udai departments should sort it out . more
Mismatch in the spelling between the two cards predominantly exists. I feel the reason - mostly the Aadhaar card entries are made mostly by untrained casual staffs. For instance, in my case, my surname in the Aadhaar card wrongly entered by the staff - 'Instead of Vaithianathan, entered as Vaithiyanathan; of late after long struggle I detected this mistake in the Aadhaar card; now I am in the process of correcting the same. Though on line correction exists, I am not able to do the same successfully; either to be sent by post or visit nearby authorized offices and get it done. In other records like Bank, gas, etc, they only do verification by entering the Aadhaar number; which indicates exists. So there is no problem. But with IT base, they do the verification with the full name as per PAN data base; in the case of mismatch it is not getting verified. Anyway it is better we correct with Aadhaar card; lot of supporting documents has been listed; anyone of these is sufficient. more
It is quite simple. You can make an online request to UIDAI for the name change to match with what is there on your PAN card and they do it and send you another Aadhar card incorporating the change. No hassles at all. I had got it done last year while filing the IT return in order to authenticate my identity and avoid mailing the IT return acknowledgement to CPC . more
