Aadhaar linkages concern

Earlier it was linking Aadhar to bank account and mobile. Now since last week insurance wallahs, credit cards, even mutual fund account is askinh to link aadhaar.

Yesterday it was reported in localcircles only how citibank is giving your aadhaar access to experian svcs of netherlands.

Given all the ugly stories coming out about infomation getting compromised, what assurance is UIDAI giving us that if any of these organisations compromise our private details, there will be huge penalties including shut down of such organisations.

High time to ensure that bad elements dont take charge of a good endeavour. Babus get transferred. Next thing you know our info is sitting on some server in Russia. more

If it's of any help, we lived in Singapore for over thirteen years. In that country every individual is issued just ONE ID-card with a number. That number appears on your driving licence also. The system is applied to locals and foreigners alike. And with that one identification number, any department of the government can view all information about you, your provident fund, your taxation stories, your health insurance, your car number, your residential and employer's addresses, your contact numbers, the number of times you've rented a car or you've been in and out of the country etc. etc. Unlike in India, not one pesky call was ever received by us throughout our sojourn in Singapore. So, basically, the system can function if proper and appropriate precaution are taken by the authorities. The big drawback that we have to fight against today is the lack of knowledge and training of the people sitting on the other side of the desk. more
Ever since I gave my aadhar number to link my mobile, I have been receiving unsolicited calls from all and sundry. In the US, if you dare to give out social security details you can be jailed, in India, every and anything goes! more
//ANAND GANESAIYER What you and your wife do inside a bed room is completely ethical but having a stranger there is invasion of privacy. That is just an example. INDIA has a history of dictatorial tendencies in governance unlike the perfectly democratic western countries. So the Government has lower reliability and credibility than an ordinary law abiding citizen. No politics intended since I hardly am a backer of any political party in India.// Myself & my wife, only do prayers each night & have nothing to more hide & infact invite all other people (strangers) to join in the joint meditation. That is how we were brought up & lived in an open village. People just walk into our house, eat whatever is there else cook tea or coffee of their choice & any stock is exhausted, they order it common shop. On average 50-55 people come daily & enjoy the community living. Even the little money kept on table remains on table. Housemaids are treated like house members & they also honest & sincere. Infact housemaids belong to muslim religion, they are happy to serve our house more than other in neighbourhood. Moral- Openness encourages & invokes confidence. Live by example. When you quote historical dictatorial tendencies,.... please quote names & evidences. Please read "Foundations of Hindu Civilization" by Sri Aurobindo Ghosh, Pondicherry before knowing what India or Bharat is & its administrative styles. Only those who have something to hide only, live in four concrete walls have something to hide & worry. AADHAR linking is very good & must be implemented even by dictatorial means for Indians are always used to breaking rules & once India was known for being a truthful nations, now it is known for tax evaders. (Recall the historical recorded story of Alexander threatening a Brahmin, who replied that he is not worried even if his head is severed.) more
There is absolutely nothing wrong in having a National identity and linking it to critical services. However, linking it to non essential stuff like Driving Licence or Insurance policies is like letting a stranger in to your bed room. Personally, I never handled black money or bribe money in either direction and have a clean tax record. So, do not like others sermonising me on those issues. I enjoy being honest and most Indians, I believe, are like me. Viewing every citizen as a potential terrorist or thief unless otherwise proved is an insult. Still worse, most of the black money in India are with politicians and bureaucrats who will have access to all loopholes. more
Driving license & Insurance Policies + Bank accounts + PAN account are all required to be linked with AADHAR to check tax evasion & first step to remove the 'caste' & move towards economic condition which is possible through this digital inter linking. more
