Aadhar as proof of identity
1. What is original Aadhar card? First time after enrolment a card was provided, is it an original? It is only printed on a piece of paper and has no special characteristics to identify as original. Then why insist on it? It is so difficult to even identify duplicate currency notes, how can one depend on “original” printed Aadhar card?
2. If it is original, how long would it last if I have to keep showing it as my identity card?
3. There is no way to ask UIDAI to issue another original in case first one is lost or soiled or damaged.
4. If you visit UIDAI site, you can only find a way to download a pdf file which can be only shown through electronic media and that is also not acceptable. If you print in black and white, it is not accepted, and if you print in colour, still it cannot be an original.
5. To my knowledge, Aadhar is only a number and in the back end it is connected to my personal information which identifies my authenticity. So, it (Aadhar number) can work as proof of my identity only if the information is verified by the security personnel through original UIDAI site by scanning the barcode (available on mobile phone and photocopy). This means every security officer or anyone who want to verify identity using Aadhar must have an equipment connecting to UIDAI. Is this possible?
6. If above is not possible, how can Aadhar be treated as proof of identity? In such a case all should be instructed to accept photocopy or digital Aadhar. more
