In continuation with the discussion, my opinion is that govt should evolve a policy where each citizen is alloted one unique no/ code call it by any name Social Security No or by any other name. This no should be mandatory to be used to apply for any thing in his life time be it for education/ PAN/ Passport/ etc. This will be difficult to initiate but once process is in place this will curb fake PAN/Passport/ Certificates/ & other scams. more

Yes I also agree this unique aadhar or any unique number( not so long number just to remember, may be 6 digit or max 8 digit , with suffix or prefix or their 1st letter of the individual's given name ). Once key in this unique number, must get all datas related from birth info, present and past address( with at least one past address within 5 yrs if rented /tenanted ). This will also help banks or financial institutions before issuing personnel loans or unsecured loans . Initially agree that it might not be easy but once in place, it will be a MUST thing. In order to get more accurate information., each individual cannot have more than 3 bank acts ( including pvt banks) with a deadline time frame of 1 yr from the actual implementation date , with repeat media advertisement like local radio, TV etc. To verify such datas, pls group the zones to smaller zones, so that officer verifying such datas, is not overloaded so that keen involvement is ensured to its maximum I suggest officers must be given ipad or other device ( which cannot be used for personnel work ) , so that verification cum entering data is done at the same time, and avoids duplication of work ( if from paper to computerised). Once entered data in ipad or similar device by officer, it should be connected to centralised server. Once the officer key in the datas, it cannot be edited or over written , withOUT the approval of higher authority and with valid reasons. A personnel cross verification by high authority can be done at a later date can be done to ensure the reason for the change. If captured and unique pin number is made compuslory many issues can be solved ( for those not with passport , unique id card is ESSENTIAL ). It will be essential that the govt start aligning with iinernational standards of issuing passport like biometric or chip inside passport , so that Indian passports are well recognised and RESPECTED around the world more

And this can easily be done through the birth certificate of new born and some easier method like vote I'd cards others more

Yes, I also agrees with the plan of one unique ID Card for all purpose.. one like IQAMA's in Gulf Countries. more
