Aadhar Issues and Way Forward

Parliament has recently been debating Aadhar. Aadhar contains a citizens name, age, address and biometrics. One of the proposals has been to utilize it as a national identification platform and use it for subsidies.

Because of the ease with which Aadhar can be enrolled in, it is quite easy to get a fake Aadhar card. Some one can even cross the border and get an Aadhar card made, arguably qualify for subsidies or getting other identities. According to some experts a big clean up is required before Aadhar can be used effectively.

We would like to seek your inputs on what Aadhar should be used for in current state, how it can be cleaned up fast and how the risks of misusing Aadhar can be minimized. We will also conduct specific polls based on feedback.

The objective is provide a collective citizen view to the Government so Aadhar can be made a more effective platform going forward. more

So far politicians and local leaders are not disciplined, such malpractices will continue. Otherwise; it could be a useful tool to make it full proof. more
While intention is good so much data in wrong hands can lead to problem also earlier request with cic for releasing list of companies whom uidai is entrusting data to is not very clear more
Even if Adhar card is included in signing up web sites, how the bio-metric verification will be done so as to ensure the personal identification of every individual. Mainly speaking the Passport should be compulsorily accepted for ID proofs, since the people who change their house at regular intervals cannot fill their permanent address provision should be included in the form to note in the passport that whether the address is his own permanent address or address given at the time of applying for the passport. Is Adhar card a ID proof?? Then Ration card can be a Address proof if concern authorities check for the people presence. But unfortuately government is not taking any step to issue a new ration card. Only if the Adhar card database of every state is linked to check the uniqueness of the individual can many of the crimes can be avoided. more
Checking for Security is essential but should not be the reason to Delay. Punishment should be VERY HIGH for those not INDIANS and they should be given ONE opportunity after the Declaration of Punishment- which V are sure will not be used to cancel but will at least prevent them to USE for refunds etc. till caught. Those caught after a Year their Punishment should b more Severe. Declare the Punishment at the EARLIEST more
Will UIDAI give assurance and guarantee to every Aadhar holder that his data will be safeguarded from all threats. Will they take the responsibility if someone's identity is stolen? more
