About special premium trains
I would like to bring this important issue to our friends here. Please give your views about this topic.
Indian Railways has started premium trains to clear the extra rush of passengers during festival and holiday season. Its very good thing that the railways are looking after their customers. But I am surprised these premium trains are charged a lot, implying that the extra trains added to clear the festive rush is meant for people who has lot of money.
Also these trains wont stop like normal trains. They got halts at very few stations. This will again not help all the passengers in that route.
I would like to request the railways to stop acting like private operators. In a country like India and for a national carrier, acting like private operators isn't a good thing.
Most of the times, when passengers or passenger groups request for new trains, they get a reply saying we don't have enough trains/rakes to run the train. And in some cases, they have the rakes, but they don't have the slots.
To our surprise, with in few days these special premium trains will be started.
In my opinion,
1) First, railways should run trains sufficient for all the people at-least during main festive seasons
2) Premium trains can be run in routes where there is lot of demand and also several regular trains are run. Premium trains can be run where people want to go real quick and good comfort.
3) Most premium trains are like they have been taken out from some garage and run with out thinking about the passengers. When passengers pay premium charges, premium facilities must be provided.
I am not sure if this topic has already been covered, but just adding my views.
