absentee of the judge
How many times a judge in a particular court can remain absent ? If judge is absent, is there any procedure for the case hearing to take place? more

I am not convinced that it is not possible to inform lawyers and litigants about the leave in the days of cell! we are still 50 years behind in the administration of justice. Only the justice delivery system in the country thinks that it is not possible to inform the concerned people. If the litigants are taken as customers, there is absolutely no justification or excuse for not informing the people concerned about the absence. This needs a mind-set change which, given the current justice delivery system, is hard to come by. Refer my blog fasgaya.com for possible improvements in the system. Muthuswamy N more

Frankly speaking it is Administrative matters, But you are having option to get your matter transferred to other Court in the same Jurisdiction, as there are multi-pal Judges in the Dist. Court. You have to make application to he effect. more

It is not practically possible to notify to every litigant and lawyer about the absence of the judge. When the session for a day commences it is notified that there will be no sitting. In case of continuous absence lawyers are informed and they inform their clients. Similarly when any officer goes on leave,it is not notified to the public.We know it when we reach the office.Whey should the judges be isolated in criticizing. They are like other public servants and they exercise their rights like any other public servant . more

Mr Sankara Narayana Pillai, Please understand nobody objects to the leave being taken by a judge but unfortunately nobody cares to inform the advocates and clients of the cases that wont be heard during the day of his absence. It is not that just judges are human beings but all the rest professionals in the world too and they have the same obligations you talk about. But they go about it so that the official work does not get affected at all. The justice delivery system in the country is in shambles because such basics are not followed. That is why I called it a system without brake ( accountability) and like a vehicle without brakes it will crash sooner than later. Muthuswamy N more
