ACCIDENTS DUE TO NEGLIGENCE OF DRIVERS

A few months back there was a severe accident in Kushinagar,UP when a train collided with school bus and many innocent children lost their lives. The main reason attributed to this accident was that the driver could not listen to the horn of the train because he was wire-plugged with his cell phone. We all know that there is a law for using of cell phone while driving. ( Section 21(25)/184 ) of Motor Vehicle Act.Can't this law be fine tuned to include use of ear-plugs while driving. The modification of law may take a long time. In the meantime, drivers engaged by schools, transport companies, may be advised to surrender their ear-plugs accessories to the concerned authorities of their organizations, when they are starting for duties. This step will help them to hear horns etc while on move and accidents will be avoided. I have written to some State Governments as well to implement this suggestion more

Yesterday I was coming to Delhi from Ghaziabad and was using the Raj Nagar Ext.elevated highway to Delhi which comes all the way from Ghaziabad and connects with Meerut-Express Highway near Ghazipur. However I was horrified to see some people riding on bikes and even scooterets coming upon the Barapullah on wrong side with headlights ON. Indiscipline by such youths not just endangers their lives but also of others, they should be immediately apprehended ad punished making them a public spectacle. more
It seems the Motor Vehicle Act is not applicable in many States in India - be it Bihar, UP, Punjab, Haryana, Bengal etc. There is no culture for checking fitness of vehicles, drivers, documents, speed limit, Red light jumping, pollution, driving in prescribed lane, unauthorised 2 way traffic, overloading, Use of Tractor trolleys for carrying bulky materials on main roads etc. The corruption and political patronage are the root causes which cause maximum accidents. The people well connected with politicians, senior officers rarely obey traffic rules. There is need to implement traffic rules strictly to ensure safety of road users. more
You've raised a very imp. issue, thanks for that but in my view in India we lack safety culture so what I'ld like to suggest is we must caution every body from Government & School authorities, students and staff even to the level of Peons & Sweepers reg. fire & other hazardous issues. We are talking of Law. Should Law only govern us? Shouldn't we have wisdom of what to do and what not to do? Its not only this accident we come across with such reasons. In our daily life we find people using ear phones while walking/crossing the road, driving. If usage of mobile phones is an offence, then why the car manufacturers are permitted to provide bluetooth? more
Even for " NEGLIGENCE OF DRIVERS" is accountable and the victims and Dependents are eligible for adequate compensation. One can approach to MACT as well as Consumer Forum more
