When we have a 24-hour average of 625 microgram per cubic metre (µg/m3) levels of PM 2.5--polluting particles 30 times finer than one human hair, that can enter the bloodstream and sicken or kill people.
No body seems to be bothered about taking this in mission mode. We should brainstorm solutions to stubble burning and take it to Government. Why cant an order be passed by central government to punjab govt stating that water must be supplied to farmers so paddy can be sown in june and harvested in october thereby allowing natural decomposition of stubble in soil. more

I also agree that It should be stopped and empowerment should be given to local authorities to handle stubble burning. more

1)There should be continuous rallies and demonstrations against governmets( both UT & Central) like done for seeking justice for Nirbhaya brutal rape & murder; & 2) Paddy is not a natural crop for water deficient,hot states of Punjab & Haryana.Such large-scale cultivation ,mainly for export of Basmati rice is unforgivable,insane.It tantamounts to export of water.Decades back,this was not in vogue.Obviously,vested interests & export promotion mindlessly by Ministry of Commerce have altered the crop preference,which the farmers also found profitable.This should be reversed. 3) Climate change is advancing,& we should prepare ourselves to growing hardy weather resistant grains /millets other than wheat between the Kharif & Rabi seasons. Vote craving govts will not move until public outpouring of anger overflows. more
