Action needed on Delhi NCR Air Quality

Last Sunday, most of us residing in Delhi NCR woke up to a cloud of smog, so bad that some had difficulty breathing. In Noida for instance the smog kept worsening and the PM 2.5 rose from 450 at 7 am to 1350 at around 12:30 pm. The most vulnerable were the senior citizens and children, many of whom are still struggling with respiratory, heart ailment, etc.

As the Founder of LocalCircles, I have attempted to share the citizen concerns, the recent survey and the need for action via the BBC platform and attached is the video. Together, we will need to urge the Government to act so we do not see another day like this in the time to come! more

Real PM 2.5 in Delhi more
Solutions that may be considered include: 1) Ensuring water supply to farmers in early June so paddy is sown then and harvested in October allowing for natural decomposition of stubble in October in time for sowing wheat in late October. The current notification that defines sowing time for paddy must be removed. 2) No free power. Farmers to get a DBT power subsidy upon submitting proof that they have done atleast 1 non paddy crop. The objective of this is to reduce rate of depletion of ground water. Other members may please share their ideas... more
Thanks for outlining the high levels of PM 2.5, extremely dangerous more
In the hue and cry we are missing main elements. We are talking about PM 2.5 & PM 10, these are dust particle parameters. Why we are not talking about hazardous gases, dust partical will be setteld if proper cleaning is done. To reduce the gas impact, greenery is required. more
*Delhi Area: 1484 sq. Km.* *1 Smog Tower cleans area: pi×3×3= 28 sq. Km.* *Total Smog Tower required: 1484÷28 = 53.* *One Smog Tower cost = 2 Crore.* *Total One time Cost required to install Smog Towers throughout Delhi = 53×2= 106 Crores Only.* ‐-------‐----- *2018-19 Kejriwal Govt subsidy for Votes:* Electricity: *1800 Crores* Water: *400 Crores* Free Bus Ticket for Women: *280 Crores* Free Mask Distribution: *10 Crores* TV, Newspaper and Radio Ads for Subsidy and Mask distribution: *80 Crores.* *Total Money spent: 2600+ Crores.* --------------- *2600+ Crores worth One year Subsidy drama is very much costlier than long term clean air solution worth just 106 Crores* -------------- No words to express my anger... but it really hurts! Even if cost of tower is higher still it’s worth all the life saved instead of spending public money on just publicity only more
