Action Request - Municipality Best Practices

Dear all:

Based on your inputs, attached are the Municipal Best Practices related to cleanliness.

As a citizen/RWA body, you are requested to meet with your Municipal Commissioner/Councillor and share it with them for a cleaner neighbourhood/city.

The Ministry will be sharing them with the 4000 urban local bodies across India soon so they can learn from each other and implement some of these practices.

Also, if you have observed any other cleanliness best practices followed by any municipality, do share by responding to this post.

Thanks for your inputs!

Periodical checks by the officials leaving their cozy AC Rooms are also necessary to see in their own eyes if things are fine as expected. Sometimes smelling the stinks by visiting the places where dhalaos are placed will make the people seriously do their jobs for which they are engaged/ appointed spending tax-payers' money for both the officials and others on the ground. Many times Officials' negligence give encouragement to the people on the ground take their inaction granted. This simple change of 'habit' will immensely raise the confidence all around. more
One way is to come out and contribute in cleaning of certain common areas and other way is to dispose of waste in proper way such that the above is not required . The local municipality should outsource and encourage industries that contribute in generating power thru waste and hence collect waste in an organised way through the help of municipality or the municipality outsource it. Secondly there should be environmental strict norms of dust emision for each municipal area and thus generation of dust emission above standard norms need to be penalized to local municipality and thus recoverable from the person responsible by municipality thereof in particular otherwise the municipality itself may bear for non maintainence of common places, public roads, foot paths etc more
Appreciate the effrts in putting down these best municipal practices. Also, what I have seen is the transport vehicles namely trucks carrying construction material like stone/sand etc are not PROPERLY COVERED ON TOP. So anytime the vehicle brakes due speed breaker or otherwise, all that construction stuff falls on the road or on nearby vehicles.!! What is the image of INDIA infront of foreigners? Simple things like these cant be strictly controlled. i should highlight that a poor driver from a distant village wouldn't understand that things like cleanliness of surroundings matters in life too. Strict standards should be enforced on vehicles carrying building/construction material. am sure there are laws in place. But are they getting fully implemented???? more
In Delhi Municipality work is disgusting. We do not see sweepers at all now a days. Particular in Vikaspuri F Block and Promise Society area is very dirty. Roads and pavement are being used as open places for toilet. Adjoining park is a nuisance as people from nearby jhuggies use it as a toilet area. more
Anybody can give me contact person & cell no for taking part in this programme at Dakshin Kolkata(Bhowanipur area). more
