Actions to reduce Delhi Pollution
Delhi is supposed to take following actions to reduce pollution. Question- Is it happening?
Stopping construction until the pollution levels normalise
Shutting down Badarpur power plant for the time being
Stopping the use of diesel generator sets for a while
Issuing periodic advisories in newspapers/TV/radio
Introducing odd and even scheme to regulate pollution from vehicles
Encouraging and incentivising off-peak travel
Increasing the frequency of bus and metro services
Levying a heavy fine on vehicles found to be polluting
Increasing parking fee by 3-4 times
Stopping the burning of garbage
Sweeping roads mechanically more

Apart from incentivising off peak travel and shutting down construction, everything else has been done and tried. Big Generators were banned in the 90s, badarpur plant has been shut down, industries were banned akd moved to gurugaon and okhla, odd even system was tried, cng has been implemented, carbon tax laws have been imposed, battery operated rivkshaws were allowed, older truck engines were banned, diesel cars were regulated, euro staged and bharat stages system was brought to incentivise car companies to make cleaner echausts, burning of wild crops was banned, pollution challan and pollution check system was brought, 1000 mw solar plant projects have been initiated.....the only thing which has not been done is banning the tempos, banning cigarettes, banning the open incomplete toxic conbistion of canola and veg oil by the redy walas and by the agarwals....but yes, by the time these things will be banned we can surely create some buffer by banning castrations and diwali diyas. more

Dear Mr Polititions For reducing polution see follwoing points:- 1. Reduce traffic congestion by making "Lane: system educate people and then start fining them if they do not listen. 2. Prepair proper roads for "lane" system. Even in one road different size of road is there, various places on road it Narrow and widened frequently. At widened road lane becomes say 8 car in one lane and where ever width of road is less then cars (Traffic moves in two or three rows means JAM of Traffic. 3. No parking more than three minutes on road should be allowed. 4. Cleaning of road to be done at various intervals mostly at nights. 5. Provide 24 hours electricity so DG will not work instead shutting down power station such as Badarpur. 6. Increase Bus services but "maximum car owners" who travel by car will reduce if Metro will cover whole Delhi similar to Shanghai China. There Roads are empty because you get Metro by walking only app. 500 meters maximum and you can go any where and any place at "Shanghai" China. 7. Certain people are only driving or going by Bus and Metros for getting work done in Public related works in Government departments. Work was used to be completed earlier by paying "Token" money. Now after Modi ji goverment and Mr Kejriwal Government ruling, MCD/DDA/ and other public dealing department don't take "TOKEN" money that is why do not work also. Work is piled up and pending due to this reason. Shri Modi ji please you have done maximum good work done by visiting other countries, Temples, etc. Now I request you to kindly visit MCD, DDA, DSIIDC and some more department and see how much public work is pending and order them to complete work on priority. Even if any paper is pending then also order them to work in favour of public and get paper work done later also. But work in favour of public and give them result as per public requirement. Totally agree with you. Just one point, I think, I may be wrong, that the fields are burnt by farmers to clean the field of wild flowers, wild plants, insects etc. If we want to solve this problem, then you are absolutely right, adviseries wont help. Govt will have to work hard to imtroduce some subsidized machinery, or to make rental of such machinery availvble to farmers to cleam fields. more

Pollution situation of Delhi demands proper study. One major aspect is the wind flow study and enhancement of its speed to achieve a flushing effect. Major Highways could play a great Role and so could the placement of High Rise Buildings in Delhi NCR. Further it needs to be studied, whether high speed Cyclone Fans, placed at suitable points can be helpful. Land and Road encroachments play a big role in the pattern of Pollution. Poor people are surely our responsibility, but in return they too have some social obligation. more
