Advisory to Industries regarding MRP compliance post GST rate changes
Via the attached advisory, old packaging is permitted to be used on items where GST rates have changed effective July 27, 2018 till Dec 31, 2018 or once the old packaging stock or wrapper is exhausted, whatever is earlier.
Permission is also granted to affix an additional sticker or by way of online stamping to reflect the new MRP post GST reduction. However, the earlier label/sticker of MRP should continue to be visible. more

As usual the business community will be reluctant to pass the benefit to the consumers and will find some plea or other to manipulate the rates. more

The notification is absolutely clear. Now what is required is a helpline for the customers to call and register their complaints on which the concerned officials will act. This implementation strategy is always missing in our system and that is the real problem. more

VIsakhapatnam:The point here is if the sticker pasted over the old gives rise the suspicion. the best way is to allow both the new and the old one. People will see, compare and will pay according to the new price, since this will show less price than the old one definitely. more

The shopkeepers are still not passing the benefit to consumers. My brother has purchased a LG fridge couple of days back. He was selling it on the earlier old rates only. When I asked him to pass on the benefit of GST reduction from 28% to 18%, he said its' not implemented so far. When I said its already implemented since 27th July, 2018, he argued that my stock is old where I have paid 28%, how can I sell you 10% less. Come after two months when I have the new stock. Since, my brother needed the fridge now, has to purchase with old price without any benefit of GST reduction.
Hence, Request the the govt to provide a helpline number operating during market hours to register the complain and take quick action. more
