Agarwal Packers & Movers - wilful negligence and careless handling of the goods

I had utilised the services of DRS Dilip Roadlines Pvt Ltd., Brand: Agarwal Packers & Movers while moving my household items from Hyderabad to Delhi.

The company's carelessness in handling of my household items has caused me to incur additional repairs and purchase of items.
The household items were delivered in a damaged and unusable condition.
1. Furniture - bookcase, dressing table, shoe rack and cartons contents damaged with water.
2. Clothes were wet and dirty and had to be sent for dry cleaning and washing.
3. Damaged fridge, glass items, photo frames and mattress

They are only willing to pay Rs. 6,000/-towards the damages, and as per the claim. This is also not correct. If they settle the claim they have to pay Rs. 40,000 towards the declared value for the fridge but they are conveniently saying it is a small dent. I now find that the fruits and vegetables have some fungus growing on them. Appreciate if someone can guide me in how to take strict action against them. more

From the photos you have shared it is clear case of negligence. The packing is of worst possible nature and it is no surprise that you have suffered such damages. In this type of packaging your goods would have got damaged within 10 Kms. Was the packing done in your presence? You should have not accepted the goods / boxes in the condition they have been received. You should have called a senior person of the transporter and should have documented the damage with his signature. You need to immediately file a complaint in police station and the consumer court. more
Dillip Road lines Pvt ltd can not be argarwal packers and movers. Madam u might be cheated by the transporter. Agarwal packers is an independent ISO company. U can talk to Agarwal packers and know the truth directly . more
Mr D'souza: First of all - Did you get the state of the house hold goods assessed by an independent Agent at the time of receipt of goods..??.. Alternatively, when you received the goods at Delhi, did you have a representative of Agarwal Packers present..??.. If yes, did you get a note about the damages incorporated in the Lorry receipt counter foil, when you signed for receipt of goods..??.. If yes, ( hope it is YES..!!..) Please send a detailed claim to the Transporter about the damages. The transporter would have all transit goods covered under their Policy but would like to avoid entertaining claim from consignors like you. If Agarwal do not respond within FOUR working days, please engage a decent advocate and file a criminal case against Agarwal and claim damages. While claiming damages, please include your approx legal cost, cost of damages, cost of YOUR TIME, and also a nominal additional sum towards mental agony. In your plaint, mention the Hyd manager by name and also a Director at their Corporate office, by name and file the case. more
Ms. DSouza , you have displayed enough damaged material to be compensated . It is good that the packers have agreed for some compensation , is it in Black and white or oral . Try to get some thing in writing so that with that you can develope your demands . I am not one to be greedy to pounce on an opportunity . But there should be some responsibility from the packers as you have reposed faith given all the household articles that are so near to your heart . Some of them could be very valuable curios presented on very special occations which are invaluable . You have so many posts supporting and giving suggestions . You must be addressed properly by the packers . more
Agarwal Packers & Movers is a reputed brand and should come upto the expectation of public user. more
