Agony of RAC and Waitlisted passangers...

Agony of RAC and Waitlisted passengers should be addressed properly by Indian Railways. The application of Internet facilities and e-resources are well done in live location of trains and also we are receiving the status messages. Thanks railway for updating. In the same way the Agony of RAC and Waitlisted passengers can be addressed by updating the list ....by tracking the passengers who did not or could not board the train. The updated status can be sent via messages and email to the passengers. Waitlisted tickets should not be treated as automatically cancelled...unless the passenger withdraws....This will redress many agonies....as in the last minute, no-one can go for booking a ticket...either from the Counter or through e-ticketing system.

My daughter booked a ticket in the 2nd AC class of Delhi Mumbai Rajdhani and was iaaued a waitlisted ticket. She had to shell out Rs. 4155 against the normal fare of Rs. 2205 due to dynamic fare policy applicable on this train. Just hrs before departure she received message reg. confirmation status informing that the waiting status had moved to RAC. Hoping that it would move to full confirmation she boarded the train but this did not happen and she had to share a berth with a copassenger. AS the journey was overnight and she was accompanied by a 3 year old daughter, it was nightmarish. While she paid nearly double the normal fare, she had to contend with only half berth. I strongly recommend that Railways stop the practice of issuing RAC status. Either the ticket is fully confirmed or not confirmed at all. I request the Forum to take up the issue with the Railways. more
Chart can be prepared 6 hrs before departure, so that W/L passengers can plan up the travel. Many a times they need to go home and pack luggage and again travel to the Railway station. This probably consumes 3-4 hrs in a city like Bangalore, Mumbai or Kolkata etc more
Why RAC passengers charged full fare, when they were provided half berth. On the other side children with half ticket no berth is provided. Yeah veer arya 9719111920 On Mon, Oct 29, 2018, 8:56 PM Prakash Swain wrote: > more

Sir, the wait listing update can only be the time when the chart is prepared. So therefore updating 12 hrs prior to the departure may not be practicable as wee as the passengers cancelling the ticket prior to the departure of the train. RAC ticket holder should be given discount partially to offset the discomfort the one has to go through the journey while sitting. more
The passenger of RAC and Waitlisted passengers should be addressed properly by Indian Railways. It can be observed that all super fast trains have more demand than the ordinary Express trains. This is all because the time factor. Passengers wants less time in covering distance, rather than paying super fast charges. Let the Railway introduce more trains in the busy routes or extend the existing trains, rather than harassing the passengers in waitlisting or forcing them to book tatkal tickets, at abnormally high charges. more
