As bye-election rallies get underway in Tamil Nadu’s Nanguneri and Vikravandi, the ruling party is pulling all the stops to attract crowds to its election rallies. At a recent AIADMK election rally at Nanguneri, this included women performing 'record dances' onstage.
Record dancing is a form of erotic entertainment that descended from folk dancing, and caters to the masses. It involves the female performers wearing clothes that don't cover the midriff dancing suggestively. It is this form of dance which eventually translated to the 'item song' in cinema.
Videos of the record dances which were part of the AIADMK's 'cultural programme' are being circulated widely and the AIADMK has found itself in a tough spot. more

Thank goodness the attachment stopped with a photo shot & not the entire video. Good Ms. Rita you have appraised the circle members of the cheap tactics adopted by Cheap politicians . The National party should have withdrawn its support in that constituency at least . But greed for power Blinds every one and it is difficult to understand people with strong religious sentiments encouraging and joining hands . VILLAGE FOLK DANCES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED OVER HUNDRED OF YEARS ALL OVER INDIA FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT OF THE VILLAGER FOLKS . No one will deny the fact that there is declining "MORAL TURPITUDE " as evidenced by frequent cases of Theft , House Break in , Murder , Rape in our nation . The convicted have always said that they were influenced & lured by the Cinema & media for their actions . Imagine what bad impact will it on the youth of India . WHY SHOULD THE DECLINING MORAL TURPITUDE BE FURTHER DEGRADED ON THE OCCASION OF ELECTING YOUR OWN LAW MAKER , LEADER , ROLE MODEL . - We have to lament with the comment "our Karma"" more
