Air Quality in Indian Cities - Key Issues
Just like the cleanliness of our neighbourhood/cities is key to Swachh Bharat, it is also important that the quality of air we breathe in Indian cities improves in the next 5 years.
Air Quality in most Indian cities falls in the Unhealthy to very Unhealthy category. This level of air quality results in significant aggravation of heart or lung disease and premature mortality in persons with cardiopulmonary disease and the elderly; significant increase in respiratory effects in general population. It also has many other side effects.
With this post, we would like to seek your inputs on what are the key issues and root causes of such poor air quality.
Once we have them, we will work on developing Solutions through a separate post.
The objective here would be to develop a whitepaper that can be shared with other Ministries and State Civic Agencies so actions can be taken to make India's air cleaner as we work on the mission of Swachh Bharat!
We look forward to your inputs!
