Airtel - GST Bills
Accordingly, I have asked Airtel to issue GST bills in my name so that I can claim ITC set-off and also provided my GSTIN certificate as proof. However, they are asking for copy of my PAN Card as additional proof for verification, which I am unwilling to give as this is unnecessary and there is no rule which asks for additional documentation.
While booking train tickets thru' IRCTC website or air tickets online, I simply have to mention my GSTIN and after I finish the journey, I get proper tax invoices from the airline. In case or railway tickets, the ticket copy serves as an invoice. Further, I can see the ITC given by these organisations in my GSTR 2A.
I could get GST bills from other service providers like Vodafone, Tata Docomo without providing PAN as additional proof. Therefore, I do not understand why Airtel needs PAN as additional proof.
GST paid to Airtel is from my pocket and I have every right to claim set-off. Airtel is creating obstacles to prevent it's customers from getting GST bills by asking for additional documents.
I would like to draw attention of the concerned authorities thru' this post on such hindrances and request them to clarify the rules. more
