Airtel International Roaming
i think highlighting the black- listed cos. will work!! i have also had a very bad experience with airtel about 2.5 yrs back where i was billed 70,000rs for 20 days of roaming to US. i had kept my data roaming off and 3G off during my travel and was using only wifi which was available 90% of the time.
Upon questioning, they said that I should have discontinued the 3G service by either calling/writing the customer care. when I disagreed to pay, the recovery agent was appointted and the lawers letters started coming. I got so frustrated that I had to clear the amount and moved on with a very bad feeling!! more

I am an Airtel user. For our trip to US around 6 months back, I checked up with Airtel on phone as well by email about the facilities and tariff. Since we wanted to receive incoming messages, I got the package of incoming which cost me around Rs.150/- per month for each mobile. There was a strict discipline of "No incoming call, mostly promotional" as it cost around Rs.100 per minute. Outgoing calls were of course controlled by us. No problem what so ever for our over 3 months stay there. One has to exercise caution and self discipline. For the internet, Airtel started giving free data to its broadband users. At the same time, their recording of the data consumed started recording at more than double the speed more than offsetting the free data given. Even with no change in the pattern of our use, the data used as recorded went as high as 11 GB on a single day. When taken up with them, the data consumed was replenished. I am checking it daily which they know. The recording, now appears to have become realistic. Every service provider, without exception will take us for a ride. We have to be vigilant. more

Airtel is great at sending inflated bills and it's service and connectivity has deteriorated over the past three years. more
