ALL ABOUT P.M.2.5 , THE DELHI DARE DEVIL :

P.M. 2.5 is the size of the particulate matter in the air. That is 2.5 micron diameter, 40 times smaller in diameter of the human hair.
HOW IS P.M.2.5 GENERATED ? -fossil fuel combustion, - Humans generate .5 through the combustion of bio-fuels such as wood and crop residue for household cooking and heating. - The burning of biomass—forests, savannah, and crop residue burning on fields to clear land for agriculture [though seasonal] Excess carbon from the fuel becomes black carbon, a component of PM2.5

HOW DO WE GET AFFECTED ? - in the beginning nose, throat and lung irritation, coughing, sneezing, runny nose and shortness of breath. People with lung and heart problems, children and the elderly are thought to be particularly sensitive to PM 2.5. Unfortunate ones with cumulative exposure go in for heart attacks, reduced lung function, worse asthma, and die younger overall than those lucky people who can breathe clean air.

HOW CAN WE PREVENT AND REDUCE THE EFFECTS : - Reduce combustion of Fuel oils by car pooling etc. - Wear on mask when exposed on the road , very important for 2 wheeler Riders. - Air purifiers if one can afford Rs. 20,00 plus the Periodic maintenance . – Eat fruits and vegetables . Body needs a lot of ANTIOXIDANTS TO COMBAT THE POLLUTION FROM THE SYSTEM. - Drink lot of water to WASH THE POLLUTANTS that have entered the Blood stream through the Lungs. –Munch on Jaggery .Traditionally , it was eaten in desert landscape where the fine dust particle are prevalent . And again the people working in the factories which produce P.M.2.5 . Jaggery is said to contain good quantity of iron which enriches hemoglobin .

Air pollution is the most gravest problem. All concerned agencies should try to control.Govt must enact a law to punish the person responsible for it. more
This is a serious problem. WHO has CAUTIONED countries like INDIA. Automobile manufactureres like VOLKS WAGON continue to CHEAT us.The SIAM should act POSITIVELY The Prevention of POLLUTION must be given TOP PRIORITY by all state GOVTS, whether by INDUSTRY, or VEHICLES. AIR PURIFIERS must be STANDARDISED more
This problem has been faced since last few years and more particularly in North India. Local State Governments are experimenting with vehicles by bringing in odd and even, but has no result. Let the State Government concern take some effective step to control the problem, instead of just take steps on a casual way. more
Government should enact stringent laws and implement them and ensure stricter compliance by the citizens to combat this national issue endangering human life on war footing. But the government alone can't achieve the desire result without spontaneous participation of our people and refraining from such acts which only help in aggravating the prevailing situation. more
Government needs to create awareness constantly on air pollution and methods to curb the same. Of course. But as honest citizens, everyone should not dispose the waste in his/her own way. Anti pollution board needs to moniter in true spirits and implement the regulation without any bias. But actual situation corruption plays a vital role in this field as well. more
