All about Premium Tatkal

The premium tatkal (PT) quota introduced by Indian Railways involves dynamic fare pricing. According to IRCTC, the dynamic fare stands for the fare component which may be increased with the subsequent number of bookings. The train ticket under the IRCTC premium tatkal quota can be booked on or after 10 am only. The Advance Reservation Period (ARP) of premium tatkal ticket booking is same as tatkal ticket booking.

Therefore, the premium tatkal tickets can be booked before one day of the scheduled departure of the train. The IRCTC premium tatkal train ticket booking facility is limited to the normal public due to which the ticket booking agents will not be able to book tickets under this quota.

The dynamic fare shall be charged for confirm passengers and the RAC/waitlist train ticket booking is not allowed under the IRCTC premium tatkal quota. As per the prescribed guidelines by the IRCTC, only e-tickets will be permitted for booking under premium tatkal quota and the passengers won’t be able to avail the benefit of I-ticket under this quota.

IRCTC doesn’t offer concessional fares on train tickets under premium tatkal ticket, also, the ticket fares for children passengers will be charged with full ticket prices. A person is required to provide ID card number at the time of booking train tickets in premium tatkal quota as per the IDs allowed by the IRCTC. Further, IRCTC suggests that at least one passenger should travel with his/her original ID card in which was used at the time of booking.
A passenger is not allowed to claim a refund in case the confirm train ticket booked under premium tatkal quota has been cancelled. All rules for tatkal quota booking from IRCTC website is applicable to premium tatkal quota also. more

Rly. Should earn the money , No Problem but the revenue should be utilised for improvement in passenger amenities & facilities. Also I must state that rly . should remove all conaccession also. Even Sr. Citizens who are having income or drawing pension more than Rs. 20,000 / per month should.t get any concession as they do not need it. Ask them to put their PAN CARD no. On reservation slip if they want concession. It will increase the revenue of rly indirectly. Also Children of 5 years should be charged as most of the peoples from all classes , even AC classes are not taking the tickets of children. They just took ordinary mail express ticket for AC class. It is our Indian attitude to save the money !!!!!! By making losses to national Property. more
It is simple, Arunji, just generate more revenue in the name of Railway, so that politicians can enjoy. more
I don't understand what was the aim behind introducing Premium Tatkal Quota? No extra facility, no extra comfortless, trains will get delay, trains will run as per their schedule time, no more speeding up or reduction in travel time by increasing the train speed then normal! then what is the use of PT? Only thing is that railway just want to suck the hard earned money of common passengers as I said earlier there a lot means by which railway can increase their revenue but they won't bother to focus on that. Really railway ministry must terminate the old, lazy and under performing employees and must intake the young employee with innovative ideas which will help in reducing the operation cost of railway and will turn the increment in revenue. more
Only Fees/Charges are copied from airline reservation system (but, not quality) more
Tatkal booking time for AC Classes starts at 1000 hours and for sleeper/sitting at 1100 hours. It is stated that the premium tatkal booking starts at 1000 hours. Then, is it applicable for all the classes? more
