Allotment of 1AC berths
Why are 1AC berths not allotted at the time of reservation? This leaves scope for manipulation later as VIPs/ railway officials pick their choice coupe/compartment/berths leaving the less desirable ones for common people. This should stop. Like all other classes, berth numbers of 1AC should be allotted instantly at the time of reservation. more

Reg. Alok Tiwari's posting on allotment of berth no.s on 1st AC . 2years back when I was shifting to Chennai from Delhi I booked 2 berths by I Ac on TN exp.and was put-on w/L 1&2. A few days later as it was still on wait I booked 2 berths in 2AC confirmed. 2days before departure I applied for EQ.On day of departure by 1 pm I learned my request has been approved and so cancelled my 2AC tickets. But by evening on net I found my status not allotted but "modified". Not knowing what it means I learnt that I have been" accomodated' in 2AC (?) as 2 berths in 1AC have been allotted to an MP. At 10 pm at NDLS I found no MP had turned up and a coupe was vacant. The coach attendant suggested that I speak to TTE and get the coupe allotted. Not finding the TTE I dumped my luggage in 2AC and waited for TTE who came just 5 mins. before departure. Tho he agreed a railway officer moved into the lower berth of coupe and refused to budge. Not being able to occupy 2 different cabin upper berths (both of us senior citizens) I had to retreat to my 2AC. more
