Allotment of Berths - Inputs on Issues

Dear Railway Circle Members:

Several of you have been writing on the allotment of berths issues. With this post, we would like to seek inputs on all the issues faced by you with respect to berth allotment.

Once we know the issues, we will review causes and specific solutions and submit a whitepaper to our Senior Leadership for key actions. The objective would be to make the Berth allotment more citizen friendly.

We look forward to your inputs!

PiyushGoyal Dear Sir, extremely happy with the progress of safety works on Indian railways. IRCTC did not refund my amount against failed booking transaction No.100001269340644 dt.15.5.18. The two customare care numbers are always busy from morning till evening. Can you direct someone from IRCTC to call me on 8790570762. Thanking you sir, B NAGESWARA RAO more
I senior citizen always get berths on the ends above the wheels and it gives lot of jerk. It is horrible when you travel with a coach attached with anti telescopic device. Whether any reservation that Sr. citizens are allotted berths at the ends. Kindly change that if is so. more
IR, Please help me get rid of Berth No.70 in my next two journeys, and allot upper berths inner side. Please ask me for the relevant PNR numbers to solve the issue. more
Till Railways sort my present problem ... (given at bottom) i always prefer Upper Berth for my convenience. Never side berths. If book well in advance; usually i get my choice of berth. But to my dismay ALWAYS berth no.70 is allotted. This is highly inconvenient as it is close to the entry doors and also to toilets. It is prone to frequent disturbance and insecurity from floating passengers and unpleasantness. When i book there would be other upper berths available. Then why they allot No.70 always. Can't i get one in one of the inner bays ? 2. While having got No.70 is there any method to get any other, secured upper berth ? KINDLY TELL ME HOW TO GET A BETTER BERTH FROM BERTH NO.70, FOR MY RECENTLY BOOKED 2 FUTURE JOURNEYS ? more
The public has lot of expectation from the Railways. more
