Allotment of birth to very senior citizen in A/C 2 Tier
While booking on line in Irtc web for journey to How from Mumbai in Duranto A/C 2 tier on 18th June17 and for the date 21st September I enqured from Indian Rly that there were 4 lower births available for Senior citizens .But after making payment I was allotted side upper birth.I wrote to Irtc helpline but they replied autogeneratic only with some no for reference Against this reference I sent a reminder that no lower birth alloted though on that date it was came to 3 lower birth but no transfer from upper to lower.Again I reminded few days back when the lower birth quota has came down to 1but same reply with some new reference no without any allotement.Now as it appears now the same quota has filled up and I have no option but to travel in upper birth.I am 84 years old with some injury in my spine I do not understand why allotment of lower birth was not made to me when there was vacant lower birth for senior citizens

Even the lower birth is allotted to some one of younger age, they can very well modify, during chart preparation, and inform them accordingly. A young person can climb easily, many a times I changed my birth to upper or middle one to help senior citizen, but how many will do that, there are some adamant soul also. more

In reality Railway/IRCTC does not bother for Senior Citizens. Their claims are on paper only. sometime back I booked thrice when 90% of declared seats were available as per website in 2 AC & each time I was allotted side lower berth instead of Lower berth in couple. So it was an opportunity to make money for Railways by way of cancellation charges almost 3.75 months prior to DOJ. more

Agreed. Railways has no rights to do Joke of senior citizen, personally I tried 3 times today to get the lower birth for my mother-in-law but could not able to get it. Railways has really done a lot of improvement in their software, Appreciate if seat reservation system get changed for senior citizens. more

very shame full . Now the time has came , Railway should make necessary changes in their system of reservation software of IRCTC . when a very senior /senior citizen has applied for lower birth and the lower birth is available at that time it should be automatically given . and if the reservation is being given on any other seat other than preferred seat ' it should be asked to that person whether he is remain interested or not in taking seat other than his preference. more

IRCTC doesn't care for Very Sr.Citizens. Today I too got side upper berth for my travel on 27th July and availability shows 29berths.I don't think all 29 are upper berths and I gave preference for lower berth.My transaction No.100000919213475 My PNR No.8661427711. I am 80yrs old. Will someone care for these messages. I feel Hon.Minister is not aware of such mishandling by irctc. more
