Allotting lower berths to Sr. Citizens
I fully agree with Mr Sastry.
The computer reservation does not just bother; allots upper berths to sr. citizens with abandon. This is my experience ALWAYS. I am 76 and my wife is 66 and we generally get upper berths in 3 AC, 2 AC or sleeper coaches despite lower berths for lower berths even if we book 4 months in advance. Rlys and IRCTC should take this issue as a priority issue and make sure that sr. citizens are allotted only lower berths.

I feel reservation system should be referenced to age factor for allocating berths so that automatically once age is indicated at the time of booking if booked under under senior citizen category the traveller should get lower berth. Also certain percentage of berth should be allocated for senior citizen and the railways should start capture on the population of senor citizen travelling in respective trains and use it as a basis for allocation of berths for senior citizen category. Hence they have to do data analysis which would give insight for planning accordingly. more
