Alternative Medicines for Children- Special Needs
We are a parent group working for the welfare of children diagnosed with a severe Neuro-Developmental Disorder, called Rett Syndrome. Though this disorder was earlier classified as an Autism Spectrum Disorder, lately with the specific gene having being identified causing this dis-order, more specific inputs and research is being done world over to find ways to cure and manage the disorder.
As this genetic mutation affects girls (x-chromosome) leading to severe physical and mental disabilities, constant physio, occupational, speech, and music therapies are advised.
As presently there is no available cure for the syndrome, can anyone suggest any safe alternative medication that we can give to our children for a better quality of life.
It may be kept in mind that our children are mostly epileptic, non-ambulatory, can't speak and therefore, the medication has to be tried, tested and safe.
We would also welcome an experienced person to share his experience with few of the parents who are getting together for a picnic on 19th Feb at Nehru Park. We would be pleased if anyone can come and meet these children and parent and advice the best alternate medications for general day to day issues like constipation, cough and cold, chest congestion etc.
