AmazonIN cheats.

Bought a Godrej refrigerator through AmazonIN portal effecting full payment of a rupee less than 30K through credit card.

Placed order on 18th February 2025 and the product got delivered on 20th February.

During open inspection before accepting delivery detected a dent in closed backside of the fridge and though it must be of cosmetic importance.

However sent a photo to local Godrej technician whom I know through purchase of another fridge at my in laws. And tried to contact him to know about the dent, who was busy at another work.

Just as I was sharing the acceptance OTP the technician called back to say that behind the dent condenser, a string of copper tubes, is located and there is no guarantee to say the condenser is not damaged due to this dent.

Based on his advise I asked the delivery boy to takes return which he refused saying once OTP is loaded delivery is over.

Immediately contacted AmazonIN customer care and explained the situation.

Meanwhile the product window in the portal promises 'ten days replacement by brand.'

AmazonIN customer care refused for replacement and that only return and refund there of is possible. I had to accept which I did.

Five days for return after which in thirteen days refund would be credited to the same instrument though which payment was effected. They were reassuring me that this timing was only maximum limit and it would be over in four or days.

AmazonIN CC said that first available return slot was on 23rd February sunday which I had to accept.

Meanwhile just checked on the amazon app to find about the same product. To my surprise same product same color at same price was very much available through the same vendor Dawntech Electronics.

Called up AmazonIN customer care again to get the same old answer adding that the seller has not provided the replacement window in spite of the promise in the sale card.

Same product being available for sale through the same vendor but refusing my request for replacement, particularly the sale window promise being 'ten days replacement by brand' is nothing short of arrogance on the part of AmazonIN / Dawntech / Godrej.

Return picked up as scheduled on 23rd February and today the 28th February I could get a message that 'your refund issued and may take three to five days for getting credited back.

By this process AmazonIN in collusion with the seller Dawntech or the reverse, has hoarded funds of 30K paid by me for 10days now and another few days more to go for crediting in.

My experience with them is as old as their AmazonIN portal. In earlier such cases they would insist for replacement over return and refund. And replacements and returns used to be prompt and in equal days, give or take a day or two, of delivery of the products.

1. Though the sale card clearly says ten days replacement by brand, that AmazonIN has refused to honor the promise of replacement though same material was available with the same seller, is crass arrogance on the part of AmazonIN.

2. In the process, AmazonIN holding the paid funds and taking undue time for return and refund is a gross commercial violation, testing the vigilance of regulatortly machinery.

Thought of closing the account with AmazonIN but arrogance should not be allowed to continue. Such businesses that show arrogance cannot function in Bharat's soil.

Suggestions are welcome for escalating this issue further.

Thanks

i agree with Mr sankar subramanian , that expensive items’ purchase should be avoided from online portals. Further i think action of Amazon was as pe T&C of the company. Moreover it should be noted that if you would have purchased fro a dealer, you would have to be satisfied with repairs - i mean no refund, no replacement more
Don't get confused. There are single use/ recondition product also available. Check Web site more
You have to be satisfied that you got a full refund of the amount paid plus the ordered product has been taken back. The only online company in our country that does refund in full or replacement of the product is Amazon.in Further their customer support is good. Other online portals operating in our country are there only to sell and push the products to the consumer. If you ask for return or replacement, you will not get any answer or their portal will be busy without any response. Further they will put a lot of conditions and questions before rejecting the replacement or refund for the product. You have to be satisfied with the crap product sent by these useless online portals. Need not like to mention the names of these online portal companies operating in the country but my experience with these online companies sales are horrible and disgusting. They are there only to sell and push crap products. more
If you have patience file a case in consumer court. These chaps will fall at your feet and apologize. more
While it is entirely upto all individuals to buy OR not to buy such reasonably expensive products ONLINE, my humble suggestion is to limit any online purchase to within Rs 1000 approximately, and also choosing payment against delivery. All products are available in local markets: it is ALWAYS better to buy any product that requires after sales support, from authorised dealers with service facility than from even retailers: yes retailer will sell at a lower price but service MOSTLY also will be "lower" only as a third party is in the picture. A dealer who sells, installs and services, MOSTLY will care more for the product and his NAME: but his price will be definitely more - as he does not do any VOLUME GAME, as many retailers do! more
