AMC and the IFB

It is typical Indian company unethical business way. To cite an instance last year along my daughter we were driving down Houston and our car tyre became flat, we approached the nearest departmental store and asked for a new tyre. The dealer looked at my car and told that he would change it free of cost as the tyre brand for which he was the dealer. We told him that it was bought two years ago and we had no bills with us. He politely told us that he was the dealer of the brand and the tyre became flat because of manufacturing defect and added it was his duty to give free replacement and with a cup of coffee, he saw us off. What a great human being with business ethics. Similarly I had the same problem for my new car six months later in India and the dealer told me it was driving error or must have bashed on a hard surface but never did both, I paid for the new tyre. Cheats thrive with government, legal institutions, officials and illegal crooks blessings in India. Shame. more

In USA many goods purchased from the stores could be returned within reasonable time. In India you will see the boards - Articles once purchased will not be taken back. I found that in USA, people genuinely return if they wont suit. It is not so in developing countries. more
Agree with Anthony Dmello completely. I bought a videocon washing machine 20 years ago and have kept it like new. It is an original Japanese make. It never gave me any trouble except for a part I have to change five years ago. Recently, the gear box failed. I called the company technicians. Two came, both said the parts were unavailable but took enough money from me for just the service of coming home to view it. Then I asked my department store owner if he had any info of repairers (not videocon). Immediately, he sent a person. They were trained at the Videocon factory and could make out what was wrong. They brought new parts, fitted the same and now it is working perfectly again. I tried and tried to inform Videocon about this incident and although the customer team was good, the manager just dismissed it even though I had given the names of the employees. This is the difference between Indians and Americans and Germans and the Japanese. Its all about attitude and service! Alas we Indians are now left behind. more
Please to inform that In INDIA also some of he Mfgrs offer this facilities i.e. 3 to 5 years warranty without questioning anything for Manufacturing Defects. Pl. Opt for the same instead of saving few bucks. more
Something is missiing in this observation. US is prosperous and the attitude is different. I am sure the US dealer will get financial credit for brand protection practice from manufacturer. Really no one is a loser in this transaction in US. more
Attitude does not depend upon prosperity; I have come across more kindness from poor people than rich in India more
Ethics comes from family i.e. elders like parents, grand parents etc. Business men without ethics cannot be taught by others. Law is a deterrent but cannot create ethics.Ethics is a self-learning trait. more
Rule can definitely re plant Ethics and for this, a Marshal attempt is required Since the Political Democracy failedin more
