an interesting article on the rights of child
Dear All,
Recently I came across an article in newspaper about a suo-moto case taken up by District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) against District Collector, Panchayat Director & District Child Protection Officer on similar issue. In this case a child of 7 years was attacked by dog.
The Chairman of the Committee ordered that Child also have right to live and such incidence violate this right and asked the District Child Protection Officer, who has the responsibility to protect child rights, to explain the steps taken by them prevent reoccurrence of such incidence.
The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has the same powers as a metropolitan magistrate or a judicial magistrate of the first class and is constituted under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000 (amended in 2006). Further there is a State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR).
The contact details of District Child Protection Officer, Gurgaon is 9555709608. Further there is Childhelpline 1098 to address the issues related to Children.
I feel we should pursue this route also to provide children their right to live. Please do let me know if you like to volunteer on this.

In light of the above order, v note that the District Collector has addresed the issue, whereas in a plae like New Delhi, and that too in MCD park of our C block in South Delhi ward no.192 @least 2 & more senior citizens, ladies suffered injury much worst when stray Dogs in the Park caused fracture in an elbow, face itself because fall on walking path of Park, recovering took more than 2 months, & there z no authority to whom this day-to-day menace's remedy can b even suggested. How can, and how long will this go on, depriving these citizens from their morning/evening walks! more
