Anti profiteering by Hindustan Unilever
When HUL is selling the 6 ML pouch of Black Shine - Sunsilk shampoo at Rs 1 they are supposed to sell 650 ML at Rs 110. However they are selling the 650 ML bottle at Rs 310. How is is right? Without knowing I purchased the 650 Ml bottle but I realised when I saw a pouch at home which was rated Rs 1 of the 6 ML volume. more

Hindusthan Unilever is an old and reputed firm and such organisation going for any action must be backed by some justification. Let them clarify. more

Small pouches at low rates attract ordinary people. Would a well heeled person buy small packages Apart from the tax, it is a marketing strategy. Poorer people would prefer small pouches, which is itself a luxury for them but raises their self esteem. Rich people would not be easily attracted by pouches even if rates are low. more

Not only HUL, there are Nos of Branded Consu, Items like Tooth Paste, Shampoos, Hair Oil, Tea/ Coffee, etc where bigger or large size packagings are costing quite more,(Unit wise, ie per Kg, Lit, etc) than their smaller packagings. Only rational logic may be lesser ED, GST, Rates applicable to small packagings more

I am not sure of the latest, but previously atleast items packed & sold below some fixed quantity, (say 10 gms of coffee pouch), were exempt from excise or taxed at a lower rate. This helped the company in selling small pouches cheaply. You will find many such cases in the market. more

Why you can buy 1 or 2 cigarettes instead of a whole pack. They sell it loose because they sell more of it. more
