ANTIPROFITEERING ISSUE FROM LEADING EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTES IN MUMBAI
My son has taken admission in prestigious educational institution for bachelor degree course. Before taking admission they had given fee structure and as per the fee structure and schedule of payment we paid the fees. On 28th june we had takent admission by paying Rs.10000/- and then on 17th sept (that is already half the 1st term session was over) without any prior intimation they are asking for 18% extra as a GST. We had raised the question in writing with Mumbai university but still no satisfactory answer is received from them. Also, Institute has sended us the notice of extra fees as GST. I want to bring to notice that earliers paid receipt for all student was given including SERVICE TAX. We had informed them that we are ready to pay difference of tax i.e. 4 % for which they are not agree. Institute Administration tried to indirectly threat me and forcing me to pay the extra 18 % which goes around Rs.70000 for us. We had also written the complaint un Antiprofiteerig to GST Dept. I would like to know how we can resolve this problem and stop the institutes from taking the extra amount which is injustice to us. more

If Institute is insisting on payment for GST, first ask them to produce the GST registration number and send a fee voucher with the details in a printed form If making the payment, make sure you mention on the cheque that the payment is for GST, on the back of the cheque and also ensure that the receipt gives the correct information. more

Its easy just interact with educational ministry to resolve it if not getting response go to PM app & tell your plight. more

We are not applying GST to petrol and diesel and prompt for educational admissions. How fair it is for the Govt. to execute such actions. needs clarification. more
