Any purpose served by this forum ?

Many people complain and make suggestions on this site on various aspects. But do the authorities take note of any complaint or suggestion ? I dont think it is so. What is therefore the use of simply chit chatting ?

I suggest posts on this forum must be monitored by a special officer in the railways or its ministry to take suo moto congnizance of the complaints and suggestions. Otherwise, we are just wasting our time. I posted 2 or 3 specific malpractices / suggestions. Leave aside the authorities, hardly any forum member read those. The turunover of posts is so high that each earlier post gets pushed back, becomes stale and overtaken, by ever incoming new posts. Therefore the purpose is not served at all. Members miss the post and authorities do not know of the posts. It has just become a place to only vent your spleen and then go on watching breaking news !

I also noticed that few times the railways asked for suggestions on specific points. But the only suggestions they found worth forwarding were those which spoke the obvious. For example, they asked how should unreserved passengers in reserved coaches be tackled ? Majority of the suggestions were on lines like penalise them, kick them out, prosecute them, increase vigilance, make the TTE act etc. All these are already there in the rules and are nothing new. These solutions have so far failed and therefore probably new suggestions were required. There was not a single out-of-the-box suggestion and yet such mundane suggestions were picked up for action. What new action will the railways take when all these failed suggestions are already there in the rules ? I too made a novel suggestion on this, but the railways probably found it too different. If the railways want only a chorus of support for their failed schemes via orchestrated suggestions, let me say that they do not need any such support for implementing the existing rules. They can very well go ahead and implement the existing rules and see if they help.

You said it Mr. Malik! I also find that in the flood of comments your own gets buried or totally missing.I can't locate more than half of my earlier suggestions. Also some comments of earlier days reappear as "1hour ago " etc. Some people give out of the world suggestions like airport-likefacilities,or posting all kinds of staff in each coach,unmindful of cost implications. First of all railways should lay down a norm of minimum level of services like cleanliness of coaches, toilets, catering etc as a base for all trains and then improve it in stages .Gone are the days years before when I used to see in Bombay and Calcutta Rajdhanis the toilets being mopped clean dry every half hour.Such is our Progress !Railways should separate the chaff from the grains in the plethora of suggestions.I find it amusing that someone suggests to charge a cess for cleanliness, whereas we all know the various cess already collected is lying unused or diverted elsewhere. It is cruelty to the public that after collecting reservation and other charges they are thrown to the wolves of hordes of unreserved passengers. Ihada taste of this recently while travelling by Lalb aug express to Mas. When I boarded at KJM there was no space even to put my foot down. I and 2ladies all seniors had to ask men sitting in our seats to vacate.TTE was only checking the reserved tickets and no more. Tho' the extra load eased after JPTit continued tillend. I am told this is routine feature. Tell me where do you start your improvement? more  
Mr Malik has pointed out a valid flaw in this system of suggestions for improving railways for better passenger / other users experience viz feedback on review/implementation . While there are large number of problems faced by passengers while using railway resources for travelling what the rail admin must do immediately is improving security at stations/trains, improving cleanliness in trains/stations, providing quality food /water / beverages at all major stations/in trains at least to those who are ready to pay, providing a competent train staff for onboard help , improving online booking system including for platform ticket and improving retiring room /waiting room facilities at stations at all towns/cities. It will be also helpful to inform by sms the train running status whenever train is running late by more than an hour thru their regd mobile no. more

Last one week there is a problem for on line booking. It is not accepting "Senior citizen" and that is why we could not get the concession for our visit to Hydrabad and Mumbai more
