Arbitrary School Fee Hike in Gurgaon
Respected Sir,
It is a great honor writing to your Honorable and introducing myself as Krishan Swaroop. I recently came to know through media reports that there was a Fee and Fund Regulatory Committee formed and presided by your good self. This committee has initiated investigation and stayed the fee hike of some schools.
Sir, I belong to middle class family and admitted my two kids in DPS Sector-45 expecting better education at affordable fee. But lately the school management has been increasing the fee disproportionately and as of now the situation is out of control and the day is not far when my kind of person will be compelled to withdraw their kids and look for a Government school the quality of which you are very well aware of.
Sir, we made several attempts to convince the school by forming a DPS Sector-45 Parent’s Group and met couple of times previously to raise our voice against the arbitrary fee hike every year for one reason or the other. But seeing no results the group became redundant and nothing happens now. I myself initiated one petition on Change.org for fee concession but there were not enough signature to bring any change. I also approached the school through proper channels requesting them in writing and meeting the Headmistress personally for considering fee concession but nothing happened and I received a call from the office of the Principle that they cannot consider my request for fee concession. I am attaching the Application for your kind reference.
Sir, most of the parents belong to business class, MNC employees earning high salaries but a person like me is unable to afford the kind of money the school authorities are increasing every year. There are several other aspects as explained in the Petition, which makes it difficult for us to manage several other things which are very essential for the overall development of a child.
Sir your efforts in this direction are really appreciable and would really act as a restriction for the schools to act reasonably keeping in view the education not the commercialization of Education. Parents irrespective of the status are willing to raise a voice against the school management but are afraid of the consequences their ward may be subjected to in the school and hence do not come forward raising their concerns.
Sir I would like to request your Honor to implement several policies and guidelines to be followed by the school authorities so that in any case they cannot jump the line of control and act judiciously while increasing the school fee. As of now the school management act as the Rulers run by businessmen for highly profitable business and nothing more than that. At the same time I would also request you to kindly issue instructions to the Education department to check the school records and the kind of educational standards maintained by the schools in Gurgaon and to make it sure that the school authorities refund the increased fee as the parents have already deposited the increased fee avoiding late fine of Rs. 100 every day.
Thanking you in anticipation. more
