Are not the customers allowed to run their cases without lawyers?

I have filed 2 cases at Bijapur District consumer Redressal Forum. I have been attending all the proceedings of the court from the last 6-7 months as a consumer. Recently, on 17th August 2020, when I attended the proceedings, the President of the forum told me that, customers are not allowed to run their cases without lawyers. I did not understand, why he said so. Hon'ble President added that I am not saying so, it is according to law. Are there any recent amendments to bar the consumers to run their own cases?

Please help me to clarify my doubt. more

Please ref. to the attached PDF reg. Supreme Court of India in C. Venkatachalam vs Ajitkumar C. Shah & Ors on 29 August, 2011. The apex court has held that even an authorised gent can appear on behalf of the Complainant more
If client can argue case, many adjournments will be avoided. Many times case is adjourned due to busy schedule of advocates. more
NO there is NO any recent amendments to bar the consumers to run their own cases. Complainant is free to Represent his own case. Only constraint is the lack of Knowledge of Procedure, application, evidences and Arguments etc. to be followed, which to be derived from the Consumer Portals. more
A complainant can present his case in any court and if he desires, he can appoint a lawyer. The opinion of the President District consumer Redressal Forum may be his personal and the lawyers can show him the procedure. more
