Are Railways Timeliness no.s fudged
I have been at railway stations in north india multiple times in last 12 months where there is an announcement saying train xxx will come at time hh:mm. Its already 25 mins past that time and railway speakers are stilll giving false information. Later if you query railways on sms or website it shows train arrived at hh:mm and not the real time.
It seems railways is either taking its reading from the signal point and not at the station (which affects passengers) or there is some other attempt to make numbers look good. In both cases passengers are being misled.
Railways should either fix this or expect a PIL on this. more

Railway enquiry system is in the habit of misleading the passengers by giving cooked information, particularly, in respect of the trains' timeliness. They never disclose the actual period of late of any train. This is the tragedy with the Indian rails. They make all big claims but actual things tell different stories. more

Dear Shri Aditya Sharma and all other. We Indians have all the time in the world. To be late has become our culture. if we look around, we have to search and find if any thing happening on time. we only follow punctuality if there is chance of punishment or loss, like appearing for interview, for examination etc. if railway staff also get punished or loose some benefits, i am sure you will find trains on time, like it happened once in emergency of Indra Gandhi time. more

I have traveled many times on the prestigious Bhopal Shatabdi , both ways and it was delayed over 80% of the time. Delays used to be over 1 hr in a 3.5b hr journey and train reached Delhi at very odd times. What can we say of other trains ???? more

Train Running Status: Railways / IRCTC should improve their system so that updation of website with the movement of train is made system based rather than updating information manually..... Example: A When train leaves platform, and the signal becomes red from Green, system must update website without manual intervention.... As soon soon as train enters the platform and Green signal turns red, again the sytem must be update website without manual intervention, etc. etc. ..... more
