Arvind's message to Men on Women's Day
In a message to all men residing in the capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday — the eve of International Women’s Day — urged them to ensure that Delhi should be a city where “every woman feels free and lives happily.”
“We should make Delhi such a city where every woman feels free and lives happily. On the eve of Women’s Day, I salute all women of Delhi… Happy Women’s Day,” Kejriwal said.
In a minute-long message released on Saturday, Kejriwal — who is currently undergoing treatment in Bangalore — began by thanking his mother and wife for supporting him. “When I used to fight against the corrupt system, my wife ran the house and my mother supported me,” Kejriwal’s said.
He further said, “Today, my message is for all the men of Delhi. It is admirable how easily and honestly women carry out their responsibilities without any fuss in their relationships… They go about their jobs while taking care of their families.”
The Delhi CM also pointed out that men have a lot to learn from women. “I salute their rock-solid tolerance. Men have a lot to learn from them. But I have seen what some men do — they comment on a woman’s clothes, assess her character, say absurd things about women, harass them. Men who do not respect women outside can never respect women in their household.” more
