ATM availability shows improvement: Inputs

Many of you have been diligently participating in the LocalCircles ATM with Cash Availability poll week after week. The same poll results are being shared with Department of Economic Affairs and other key stakeholders since Nov 8th.

We are pleased to share that the current poll shows that only 23% citizens were not able to find a cash dispensing ATM last weekend. This number had hit the high of 66% in early December.

If you have additional inputs on current ATM workings, kindly share and we will raise it to drive further improvement action. more

No problem at all. On 1/24/17, LocalCircles Manager wrote: > more
Yes, it is also true in the heart of the Bangalore, viz. Shivaji Nagar Bus Stand and Cooke Town that some of the ATM are shut; I find somebody said earlier that the ATM need to be calibrated for Rs 2000, 500, and 100 notes. I believe that the calibration isn't, at least shouldn't be an, issue now! The recalibration of the ATM was required for Rs 2000 and new 500 notes because the first was of a new denomination, size, thickness, and weight and the second was of a different size, thickness, and weight. It is different if few ATM still remain uncalibrated for the Rs 2000 and new 500 notes but all the ATM are calibrated for the Rs 100 note as it was already in the circulation! The problem is about the cash/currency crunch and that too of Rs 500 and possibly Rs 100 denomination as well! The RBI or the Govt may use the fig leaf/disinformation but the reality will come out. I add if the situation is as painted out to be in Noida and metros then the interiors both the urban and rural areas must be still experiencing lot of shortage of the currency. more
In a way, the 2000 rupee note is getting used to stash up cash in homes. If this is demonetized, another 20% of 24 lakh crore will get discounted to new 500 and 1000 notes. Politicians will rake in more wealth, leaving the rich poorer, the political class more stronger, and the marginalized with benefits akin to election season. more
This poll can just not be correct! more
ATMs should be calibrated to dispense Rs.2000, Rs.500 & Rs.100 notes. It require some changes in the machines and software. Outsourcing in cash loading should be discouraged. more
