Leading Indian Telecom player Airtel is in trouble with the way it handled the e-KYC license issued for verifications of their mobile phone customers. The charge against Airtel is that they used the e-KYC verification process for the mobile connection to automatically apply to the opening of a bank account in the customers’ names.
Question is what all information about me as a citizen are companies like airtel, jio able to authenticate from UIDAI Servers. This is where restrictions need to be placed otherwise before we know it a lot more of our data will be with brands then we actually want. more

Aadhar has become a source of nuisance for number of reasons. Apparently government has no clear thinking why and where aadhar need to be insisted up on. But the innovative entrepreneurs find ways and means of exploiting the information available on aadhar. more

The SIM verification software for accessing Aadhaar was designed in such a way that every time a retailer is verifying the customer's SIM, there was a option at the bottom asking to open AIRTEL PAYMENTS BANK ACCOUNT. This option could not be switched off even by the retailer or the customer. Hence, it resulted in forced opening of bank accounts despite the customer not wanting it. Obviously, it is the company which is at fault and should be prosecuted alongwith the company that designed the software. These are strong arm mafia tactics rather than a genuine mistake. Did not expect this to happen from a reputed company such as AIRTEL just because it wanted to get ahead in the game of banking. more
