Auto Insurance Claim Processing

When one has an auto insurance claim dealerships tend to demand that the car must be left with them for 10-15 days. Its a sad situation. The work is for 2 days but the car is down for the owner for 15 days.

Why is this not being made more efficient? Is it because by giving this answer to consumer they the insurance companies want to discourage them from filing a claim and get the repair done locally instead.

LC manager must escalate this to IRDA. more

This does happen. While 15 days appears a stretched count of the number in most cases, dealerships do take a few extra days in cashless claims to ensure that they do not go out of pocket. It is a fact that insurance companies on the average take anywhere from 60-75 days to settle claims to dealers. Moreover, they will never approve the claim estimate at 100% till several rounds of iterations and after the repair work has commenced. Insurance companies feel that this is a way to reduce claims as its put pressure to reduce some non-critical claims. This needs o be addressed by the regulator. more
Hi, days mentioned above seems little exagerated, vehicle kept for 2-3 days work in workshop, it may 1-2 days more for insurance co's formalities in respect of liability confirmation and if cash less, net amount receivable from insurance co. Unless we get full details of the rpisode, we can not comment on. more
If this is true then definitely LC have to escalate it to the relevant IRDAI authorities since I have not experienced the same. more
So true. Tata took 15 days for us more
