Avoid Apple products
I recently purchased an Apple MacBook Pro. Within less than three weeks of using it (actual usage time was significantly lower), it developed a problem of discoloured display. I called the seller Izenica and was told to take it to the authorised service centre, which I promptly did. I requested them to examine and give a replacement. The point blank reply I got was that Apple has no policy of replacing a laptop even it it is one day old. It can only be repaired. Imagine, I spend a fortune to buy a laptop, it develops a snag and then I am told you will have to use a repaired one. What else is this if not a rip off by Apple.
The service centre was crowded with hapless customers who had come to get their products repaired. I thought that if Apple claims to be selling a perfect product than the service centre should hardly have any crowd. But the place was full of dis-satisfied customers and I realised that Apple's quality is not what it claims to be. The products sold are definitely sub-standard. If they were not then why should so many customers be at the service centre. And they charge a fortune for these sub-standard products.
There policies are extremely customer unfriendly -
1. The laptop has to be taken to the service centre. Most other brands provide onsite support. Apple saves on customer servicing costs
2. The turnaround time to repair a laptop is atleast 7 days. They take three days to diagnose a problem and then another three days to repair the machine as they do not stock spare parts. They expect the customer to do without his/her machine for this period.
3. They refuse to give a replacement even when it is evident that the original product is defective.
In may case the logic board had to be changed and also the display unit. This clearly suggests that the original laptop sold to me was of sub-standard quality.
I would strongly urge that Apple should not be patronised by Indians. more
