BA.2 Omicron cant be detected by RT-PCR

Below the Circles Manager has asked the million dollar question. Should genome sequencing continue or accelerated

Everyone please note India has both BA.1 and BA.2 but BA2 cannot be detected by RTPCR as Omicron and BA2. The test though will tell you whether its Covid positive or not. And if u hot infected by BA.1 in january u could still get infected by BA.2 per Danish scientists.

What this means is India must do aggressive genome testing and find out in what all locations do we have BA.2 cases now and prepare there and alert citizens there.

If Kolkata has had a BA.2 led surge chances are it wont have another one. But if Delhi primarily had BA.1 it could still have a BA.2 surge. more
