Bad State of Duranto Express

The hygiene and sanitation levels of Duranto Express trains are down to 1 on a scale of 5. Recent travel experience from Delhi to Bangalore led to many people on the train getting urinary infection due to dirty toilets.

The contractor must be immediately terminated and accountability fixed.

Also after railways taking away senior citizens discount the cost is at par to a flight ticket and hence there is no reason for people to take such trains if they are a hub of filth and disease.

New Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji must be taking lead on this kindly.

By blaming the contractor nothing will come out. Passenger must behave rationally. Passenger must also be held responsible for this condition I have traveled in Rajdhani express and in other express train and in most cases, the behavior of passengers are not acceptable in maintaining the hygiene. more
The maintain the cleanness is the Passengers duties. Not only Railway & contractors. In North India the Peoples have chewing Gutkha , Tabaco , Smokes & they make dirty the Toilets & wash basin. After eating the food , tea coffee ,snacks they will keep the plates below their seats saying it is the contractor responsibility as they are taking money for it. This attitude makes the coaches dirty. The Only way is since the rly is installing CCTV in coaches . record all passenger activities & the person who is making such things should get punished on the spot . Min. Rs.1000 . If he make arguments, get deported on next coming station & keep behind bar for min. 10 days. In 10 days he has to clean the toilets, wash basins & stations wall where the spitting has done by others. Then only improvement will come. 100 % democracy never get success in any country. more
Those who have had the opportunity of traveling abroad and availing of local railway services, I am sure, would have noticed that the overall hygiene standards Railways included, depends, largely, on the collaborative efforts of the service providers and the users of the services. I am afraid, we can not compare ourselves with the standard of civic sense even at 1:10 ratio. This will be borne out amply if one cares to interact with the sanitary staff in the Railways and beyond. It will be very embarrassing to know their side of perception of users as for as their contributory role is concerned to ensure perpetually poor standard of hygiene and overall sanitation. We must introspect as to why we are so arrogant in flaunting our utter contempt for public hygiene while using public spaces, stationary and mobile alike. more
Ramesh, Don't shift the blame; the state is extremely BAD. take positive steps rather than blaming the entire lot of customers more
Such an unhygienic condition can be over come only when passengers stop train any station enroute, till toilets are fully cleaned and sterilized.Only, then the concerned department learn lesson. More over the loss to the passengers, if any caused to be recovered from the concerned department or contractor, due to sheer negligence of railways. more
Yes, I too have the same experience traveling in Duronto. Ticket charges are exorbitant sometimes more than the airfare. We don’t mind paying but facilities, particularly toilet hygiene is so important. The railway authorities are responsible. They can do better but they lack commitment. We expect a lot from Ashwini Vaishnav Ji. Sir, please take note and do the needful. Thanks. more
