The Chinese products advertised on e commerce websites are quoting priced in US dollars. If we can restrict payment in dollars to these sites we will achieve our objective.Let them quote prices in Indian rupees pay our customs duty then we may consider the trade. They will then have to buy goofs in India to utilise the money that will balance our trade. more
A very good suggestion. But in the present trend of relaxing all rules and regulation, in the interest of ,"EASE OF DOING BUSINESS" WHO WILL LISTEN TO YOU? As a person associated with imports, I have noticed that, even items which are made in India, are being imported from CHINA, by our "patriots". I happened .to open a ceiling fan in a gulf country residence. The fan bore the trade mark of a popular Indian Brand. I found that every part inside the fan is MADE IN CHINA. Our Indian Patriot mfr had imported the fans from China, and re-branded them with his own brand name and exported it, got duty draw back and other export incentives. Please take the case of the LED bulbs which are flooding the market. Our Imports from China might be more than our imports from other nations. When we had licence raj in 1977, our performance was orderly. But to day no one knows. Take the case of oil imports. When 100% of Delhi have phased out the PUTPITIs, and brought in battery powered share autos, what prevents other cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore or Madras to mercilessly stop the petrol or diesel autos. The POWERFUL . DIESEL AND PETROL MARKETING LOBBY does this trick. That is why, state governments are still "considering" ,"policy framing" for e autos. Please do not mention anything about Balance of Trade or Balance of Payment any more. They are meant for lecturing in class rooms in foreigh trade. We should use our own products which are of better in quality. I have met some Chinese who quietly laugh at Indians who want every thing free or of less price without bothering about quality. Our business people who go to Chine for buying tell the people there that any thing can be sold in India. We should show our patriotism and encourage Make in India. more
