Ban Dangerous Pesticides in India
If I understand right, the Govt has recently banned some pesticides which were anyways on their way out. The deadly ones are still prevailing and available in market. Mr. Pritam Sharma had shared a video of cancer train and how these pesticides are leading to exponential rise to cancer in punjab that a train to rajasthan is called cancer train by railway employees.
It seems such is the lobbying monies of these companies that the ban list of pesticides did not have the hot selling ones which are also the killer ones like monochrotophos and glyphosate are still not banned.
Can we please do some poll or petition on this in the circles so the issue gets escalated and gets to regulator and media.

Roundup is a trade name for Bayer/Monsanto glyphosate-based herbicide, which currently is the most sold pesticide/herbicide in the world. In India, this herbicide is rampantly being used, most often illegally and without the knowledge of the farmers. It is being sold from Punjab to Maharashtra over the counter by Mahyco Monsanto, a 50-50 joint venture of Maharashtra Hybrid Seeds Co and Monsanto, agents and traders. Roundup in India is being sprayed heavily on tea plantations and even being used on wheat as a desiccant.
Various medical defects result from the ingestion or contact with this herbicide. They range from birth defects, kidney and liver failures, DNA damage, infertility, cancer, mineral depletions, endocrine disruptions, cerebral atrophy, heart cell toxicity and overall toxicity in human cells. The full list of damages done by the use and ingestion of Roundup is a very, very long one.
The Roundup mystery is far from solved. Earlier this year, a group of French scientists found out that Bayer/Monsanto has been lying about the toxicity and formulants of Roundup. On scientific analysis, they found that Bayer/Monsanto has been selling highly hazardous heavy metals such as arsenic, cobalt, chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni) and lead (Pb) inside an innocuous looking bottle of Roundup, disguising them as “formulants”. They also discovered that the formulants (mixture of heavy metals) were about 1,000 times more toxic and poisonous than the already toxic active ingredient glyphosate.
Sri Lanka took cognisance of this public health epidemic in 2014 and banned the herbicide after a scientific study proved the connection between over 40,000 kidney failures and Roundup. This emergency step was taken contrary to the interests of the powerful tea industry, in order to avert a public health disaster.
We in India need to really stand up fast and strongly and ensure glyphosate is banned like immediately.
I urge Local Circles and FSSAI to engage the right Govt depts on this and get this done. I am happy to come for any representation is required. more

More population more demand of food grains, so minimal damage in crops for high production, and all indians are silent on population control. No doubt dangerous pesticides and chemical fertilizers shall be stopped,and organic agriculture shall be spread to all fields. But famers need more product quantity for more money and so land into the trap of pesticides and chemical fertilizer. The mandi agents, and business man gets more share of profit from consumer price and less goes to farmer, so he has no other alternative than to produce more. Also we want best quality vegetables and food grains with out getting affected by field insects, so need for pesticides. more

Massive surge in cancer incidence in India can be largely attributed to rampant use of pesticides. Many a times, one cancer incidence in a family, can take all of the family resources and can cripple economic well being. It is a real real crisis, discussed rarely. Roundup, yes the commentator is correct. Recently there is a lawsuit in California, the landscaping workers who use round up in their daily work as yard (lawn) maintenance, suffer from a particular type of blood cancer.
