Ban laptops/mobiles from aircraft check in luggage

Given recent episode on Delhi Indore flight of a mobile phone exploding, I believe it is a good idea to ban personal electronic devices in check in luggage. inconvenience less important than safety. it may be an apt subject to conduct a poll if there is disagreement. more

Much ado about nothing. Restriction is only on carriage of electronic goods in checked in baggage. You can carry these items as carry on baggage. This has been implemented by the airlines world over. Rationale is that if any item explodes or catches fire in the carry on baggage, the same can be handled by the airline crew. But no one can access checked in baggage once the aircraft is in air. more
Laptops and mobile phones are allowed to carry in person as cabin luggage apart from the check-in luggage. In view of the explosion, do you mean to ban carrying these gadgets in flights and to get new ones at the destinations of the passengers. Its not a bad idea as at no times these will become old and obsolete but the thing is that you should be capable to afford on every occasion or on banning as suggested, the passenger graphs at least in domestic flights will sharply come down to the minimal. By no means the suggestion appears to be practicable. more
Can we ban the flights just because there are odd occasions of accidents? Let us make reactionary decisions. Of course safety is very important and needs to be given top priority. more
M/s Indigo is issuing advisory to its passengers ( about 24 Hrs. before the scheduled departure) not to put any electronic equipment with battery in checked-in luggage, but to carry them in hand baggage only. more
Safety is first as it effects everybody. So let us respect. As a normal practice laptop will be usually carried as Handbag. There are two reasons . 1 We can work on the laptop while waiting for flight. 2 If we keep it in the bag as luggage, this will not be handled properly and may cause damage to Laptop. Now if the govt/airlines want to make it strict let them announce publically about this more
safety first, all are next more
