BAN mention of caste by Media in News Reports/Debates

There is a bold headline in Times of India of May 10, 2021
“ First Brahmin CM, only one from lower Assam since ‘96”
This refers to Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma being nemed as CM of Assam. He is being given responsibility of CM post based on his performance over the last five years – in government and politics. His naming as CM has nothing to do with his caste. Then why a responsible newspaper like TOI is highlighting his caste?
Every citizen of our country is an INDIAN irrespective of his caste or religion. Therefore government should Ban mentioning of caste by Media in Newspapers, Television news and Radio news.
What difference does it make to a State that its CM belongs to a particular caste or hails from Lower Assam or Upper Assam.
We request Local Circles to take up this issue with government. more
