2. Yes, we must pressurize Govt to take actions against pollution but 1000 ug/m3 is well beyond the alarm level and some drastic actions are required. But remember any action taken will cause inconvenience to citizens and hence will be criticized like this one.
3. Will you be satisfied if the ban is all over India? Frankly, the problem is worse in Delhi. I have celebrated Diwali in most parts of India and the worse is Delhi which could be because of extravagance Delhi culture and environmental effect where the air does not escape during this period. And if the problem is maximum here the solution too has to start from here. Why should the people of Kerala, AP, TN etc be forced if they restrict their behaviour and burst limited crackers only?
4. The areas of NCR have been banned which were found to be contributing to this pollution and this should greatly reduce the problem. If it persists, then something else may be thought of by those in power.
And lastly, traditionally Diwali is celebrated by Diyas and prayers not crackers. Crackers are a recent introduction and must be discouraged since it a curse on the environment and earth. If there's anything that kills our future must be stopped even if it gives temporary happiness. more
