Ban on Crackers this Diwali

I don't think that this is a great move as celebrating festivals as per our tradition is everyone's right, and trust me it shouldn't have been any problem as it had never for so many years, but the saddest part is that everything is so much politically motivated nowadays that main issue always remains untouched. Once in a year Diwali is celebrated and I and all the people I know look forward to this much enthu, but sadly it would be missed this time. See, there are so many ways to control pollution and all the governments are always coming up with some ideas or other over past years but always fail miserably to implement them in the strictest way possible just for one simple fear>>>>>loosing the VOTEBANK. more

India with a vast majority of Hindu's has been known to celebrate their festivities in style all throughout ages. However with increasing populations, increase in pollution also has multiplied 10 times faster due to our own greed, our inventions and our adherence to traditions. None of the river is clean today...Air Quality is deteriorating every day...China faced this problem...Japan also did...they acted quickly as there they did not have to have arguments and debates, however here we have been debating and are even questioning the Supreme Court whose Judges have far more foresight and sensitivity towards humans irrespective of race, religion or creed. On one hand we are shouting for patriotism and on other hand we want Chinese fire crackers for celebration... even the Sivakasi and Tamil Nadu brand of crackers are actually made by exploiting children who labor in factory and every year many lives are lost in fire accidents and mishaps still in the name or religion we want to celebrate. Political parties are no different, when they win an election they want to celebrate with crackers. Some Joker has put his views saying: Trust me nothing will happen. Are the Climate Control researchers and scientists fool? more
It would have been better to make low polluting crackers mandatory. Research into this should be recommended. This should have been done from some time back more
But Buddy I don't think this is wrong. Infact according to me this is a great move by government. 1st of all how diwali is related with crackers?? Infact according to me a complete ban is required for our better future. Because during manufacturing it promote child and bounded labour. just go in shivakashi a see their life after sell it harm our environment. please don't make it political this is a great move and appreciate it instead on criticising it. more
Fully agree with Ashok's views. Well illustrated more
Is celebration with crackers the real culprit in so far as pollution is concerned? The answer is no. Throughout he year the pollution levels of our Capital are 5 times higher than the norms. Is the Govt. serious about tackling that issue? Is the Govt. serious about the smoke coming from Punjab and Haryana during winter months? The answer is no. So what has been achieved by banning the sale of crackers and that also till Nov 1. If the main reason is pollution then this ban should be throughout the year. And why restrict yourself only to atmospheric pollution. There are other kinds of pollution's which need to be dealt with. I have not seen anybody talking about that. If Govt. is serious about solving this menace than a holistic view has to be taken and you cannot look for "fauri ilaaj". more
Dear sir,
I am with you with regard to a comprehensive formula to control pollution. Lets pressurize govt to take it up through this circle and petitions also.

But in the meantime, this step, however small it may appear, must be supported since the few days post Diwali are the worst in Delhi and hence must be controlled with emergency methods till such time the govt comes out with their comprehensive formula.

Dear Sir, My reply covers all aspects of the points raised by you. Please read carefully. If pollution has to be tackled then tackle it seriously and not in this 'too little too late' manner. The Govt. and the supreme court knew the dates of diwali long time back. Why were they sleeping all this while.

Pollution tackling requires a serious plan of action and not a ruling coming at the eleventh hour as was done in the instant case. This is more of a 'crisis management' and reeks of indifference, a classic case of a person suddenly remembering 'Oh shit, I totally forgot, diwali is just a fortnight away'. Is this the way you expect the policy makers of this country to work? It is shameful to say the least. The decisions of the Govt should be well thought of, which reassure the common man that they have been taken keeping everybody's interests in mind.

And nothing works unless it is followed up. In a country like India The Govt servants responsible for implementation bend the rules with impunity because kisi ka bhai aur kisis ka bhatija is the one who breaks rules.

Need I say more sir? more
Mr Sangram Singh Thakur sir, May I ask you simple questions to be answered in YES or NO?

1. Is the pollution worst on and after Diwali in Delhi or not?

2. Is the health of our population specially children, more important than our temporary happiness obtained from bursting of crackers or not?

3. If the crackers are not burnt Diwali, will it help reduce the pollution level or not?

Please think on the above questions FROM HEART! You will get your reply.

Warm Regards more
