Banks off for 14 days on April

I think half of the banks should be shut in India and 50% employees asked to find different jobs. How can u be shut half of the month when your customers is open. Regulator RBI do u ever listen to customer or do a bunch of your babus make the calendar in a conference room over chai and samosas. Sorry but this painful.

Same is the situation with almost all the Govt. Organisations. In private organisations the practice is to pre-opt for about 11 days Holidays including 3 compulsory under the NI Act. Therefore while Bengal may choose 1 for Mahalaya + 4 days during Navaratri (3 in case of a Sunday) while Western and many other states prefer ore days during Diwali. North Eastern states may prefer longer Bihu. After all in either case the employees get Annual leaves and 7 to 10 days' of Casual Leave for employees wanting to celibate any religious or family event. Many companies, rightly so, do nor permit C.L. to be suffixed or prefixed with Holidays and Sundays. Some employees do that to take up long holidays with a day or two of CL. That saves them with the PL for which they may be getting compensation. Particularly in places like banks this puts extra pressure on sincere employees and of course the service to customers suffers. Perhaps it will be pertinent to pay for unused CL rather than un-availed PL. If you add to the list of official Holidays some CLs in this manner, many employees may be working even lesser than half a month April. The onus should be to provide service to people and not convenience to employees to shy away from working. more
Banking should be declared an Essential Service with no right to strike as it affects the common life of more than 99 per cent of people, particularly, the business community, industry and others linked with financial transactions and services. more
When ATMs were not there, we had the problems, now ATMs are there but we have similar problems. As suggested above we should have some banks working 24x7x365 with proper security. more
For reforms in Banking Sector, a complete overhaul of PSU Banks is needed. Recently I was in Chawri Bazaar to buy some Office Diaries, I needed to withdraw Cash for payment. At the road junction there was a Kotak Bank ATM( non functional) & SBI ATM (Out of Cash) & I found PNB in a gully...I climbed 2 stairs only to find that it was a Branch and at 8:00 P.M. there were a few staff seated. One of them told me that the ATM is just around that buildings corner on Ground Floor. When I reached it...both machines installed were non-functional. With a Branch in it vicinity if the ATM is non functional then the staff should be made responsible. I have experienced that most PNB ATM's across Delhi are non functional. more
A skeleton staff may be put on duty and paid extra wages or given compensatory off as done in steel plants. more
